  • Ingerana aizawl: A new frog species formalised from Mizoram.
  • Locality: Hratdawng Stream on the Mizoram University campus, approximately 15 km west of Aizawl City.
  • State: Mizoram.
  • Taxonomy: Genus Ingerana; Family Dicroglossidae.
  • Earlier identification: Identified for years as Ingerana borealis; both morphological and genetic evidence established that it is a distinct species.

Physical Features:

  • Small and stout-bodied.
  • Adult males: 22–25.5 mm snout-to-vent length.
  • Adult females: 24.4–26 mm.
  • Distinct circular tympanum.
  • Prominent supratympanic fold.
  • Small, rounded discs at the ends of the fingers and toes.
  • Notably wrinkled dorsal surface.

Habitat:

  • Prefers water and forest habitats, especially small forest streams.

Scientific Description:

  • Formally described in 2026 in the journal Zootaxa.
  • Type locality: Hratdawng Stream at Mizoram University campus, Aizawl, Mizoram.
