- River System: Gandak is a major Himalayan river and a left-bank tributary of the Ganga.
- Names: In Nepal, it is known as Gandaki/Narayani; in India, it is called Gandak. The upper river is associated with Kali Gandaki.
- Origin: The Gandaki system originates in the Himalayan/Tibetan Plateau region and drains central Nepal before entering India.
- Major Tributaries: Kali Gandaki, Trishuli, Budhi Gandaki, Marsyangdi, Seti, Madi and Daraudi constitute the major tributaries of the Gandaki system.

- Ecological Importance: The river system is associated with the Valmiki Tiger Reserve region and important riverine ecosystems.
